Department of Innovation and Sustainability

DIS was created to support a profound evolution in organizational, educational, and cultural models, based on a simple yet revolutionary principle: there is no positive impact without a systemic vision.

DIS represents an enabling space to generate impact-driven innovation, according to the One Health vision. One Health means recognizing the interdependence between human, environmental, social, and economic health. DIS was born to translate this interconnection into training, research, and concrete action, helping individuals, organizations, and territories become true drivers of change.

Impact Innovation is a direction to be enabled: it requires openness, vision, and the ability to act. DIS accompanies people and organizations through this process, making concrete a cultural transformation that focuses on relational value, shared responsibility, and the capacity to generate widespread well-being.

DIS integrates sustainability, social innovation, and ESG into educational pathways, territorial projects, and strategic partnerships, engaging schools, universities, companies, and public institutions.

The cities of Milan and Genoa are the two active hubs of the Department:

• Milan, Italian capital of sustainable finance and social innovation
• Genoa, nerve center of the Blue Economy and port logistics

Both operate as living labs where solutions are tested in direct dialogue with communities, businesses, and institutions.

Our educational paths are designed by a hybrid faculty: academics, professionals, social innovators, and co-teaching companies.
The educational model is based on:

• learning by doing on real data (Digital Twin One Health)
• co-created business case studies
• micro-credentials and digital badges
• co-brandable and customized pathways for companies.
